Megara Foundation Supports Music Therapy

November 27, 2012 02:32 PM

AMTA recently received a $10,000 contribution from the Megara Foundation in Houston, Texas.  Foundation representatives identified AMTA as a possible recipient of funds earlier this year after being impressed by the impact of music therapy services and programs. They interviewed Executive Director, Andrea Farbman over the phone and in person to learn more about the mission and scope of the association. The grant is an unrestricted donation to support AMTA’s "continued work and commitment to the development of the therapeutic uses of music in rehabilitation, special education, and community settings." Foundation officials indicated that support for the music therapy profession is an interest of theirs and that this donation marks the beginning of what we all hope is a productive partnership.
