MT-BC Places in National Small Business Competition

Board Certified Music Therapist Competes and Places in the D’Aniello Family Foundation Business Plan Competition for Veterans

watsonSilver Spring, MD - Music for Wellness, LLC led by music therapist Becky Watson won 3rd Place among over 47 other businesses competing in the February 10, 2016 D’Aniello Family Foundation Business Plan Competition. The competition was sponsored in cooperation with the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans (EBV) with Disabilities. The Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans National Program is a novel, one-of-a-kind initiative designed to leverage the skills, resources and infrastructure of higher education to offer cutting-edge, experiential training in entrepreneurship and small business management to post-9/11 veterans and their families.

Navy veteran Becky Watson (Capt., Ret.) is a Board Certified Music Therapist who founded Music for Wellness, LLC. According to Becky Watson, “the TRUE WINNERS of the D’Aniello Family Foundation Business Plan Competition are all of the older adults living with dementia we serve. They are WINNERS because I have been empowered and inspired to grow a dream team and expand music therapy services to have a bigger positive impact in our community.”

Becky Watson, MBA, MT-BC is an active member of the American Music Therapy Association and is Owner, Music for Wellness LLC. Becky is a retired Navy Captain with over 25 years of service. Becky is the recipient of the “Social Venture Award” during Citi's and Institute of Veteran and Military Families (IVMF's) "Realizing Your Dream" Business Competition for Veterans, “Entrepreneurial Award” from the Still Hope Foundation and a Semi-Finalist for the InnovateHER Business Plan Competition in Norfolk, VA. Becky lives in Norfolk, VA with her husband Rod (retired Navy Officer) and two children. Congratulations to Becky!
