The American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) and the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) are excited to announce that on Tuesday July 4, 2023, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine signed into law HB33, which included language that creates a music therapy license under the State’s Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board.

Please help us congratulate the Ohio Music Therapy State Task Force Co-Chairs Team of Erin Spring, Ed Gallagher, Alicia Hrubey, and Madeleine Landry for their leadership in promoting state recognition efforts. We’d like to thank all current and former members of the task force, the Great Lakes Region of the AMTA and the Association of Ohio Music Therapists for their support. Thanks also to the professional and student music therapists in the state who attended Hill Day events, sent letters of support, and participated in advocacy efforts.
