Recent Shootings

May 23, 2022 04:04 PM

Members of our music therapy community, along with people across the United States, are once again grieving the loss of life due to mass shootings. We are saddened, horrified, and angered by multiple recent incidents that have resulted in unexplainable trauma, loss, and grief. Namely, these include the mass shooting at Tops Friendly Market in Buffalo, New York on May 14th and at Geneva Presbyterian Church in Laguna Woods, California on May 15th.  We hold space for the families and communities immediately impacted by these tragedies, and stand against these acts rooted in racism, hatred, and white supremacy.

To our music therapy students, professionals, and clients of color, we see you. We mourn with you. We stand with you as you navigate the trauma, stress, and fear of being targets of events such as this. Should any of our community members or clients care for supports during this time, please contact info@musictherapy.org and we will help locate resources for you.
