The Wilson Trust Music Therapy Project releases a Program Announcement: Pay-It-Forward Microloans.

September 19, 2011 01:59 PM
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
The Wilson Trust Music Therapy Project releases a Program Announcement: Pay-It-Forward Microloans.
Seattle, WA - September 16, 2011 -
As part of The Wilson Trust Music Therapy Project (WTMTP), the American Music Therapy Association is pleased to announce a Program Announcement: Pay-It-Forward Microloans. The purpose of this Program Announcement is to improve music therapy service availability and accessibility in the Puget Sound region of Washington. This program provides small grant funding and is open to qualified AMTA-member music therapists residing in the Puget Sound region.

The design of the Program Announcement was inspired by microloan programs. However, the WTMTP is using a ‘pay-it-forward’ model whereby funding recipients are asked to pay-it-forward through service to the music therapy community rather than through repayment terms of a typical microloan.

WTMTP is a project of the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) and consists of a $400,000 dollar legacy gift thanks to the generosity of the Eleanor and Raymond Wilson Charitable Trust. Mrs. Wilson lived a long and fruitful life in the Puget Sound region of Washington and actively supported music and environmental causes. AMTA received this gift for the express purpose of growing sustainable music therapy services in the Puget Sound region.  This is the first of several Program Announcements and an array of activities of the WTMTP
