The American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) and the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) are excited to announce that on July 31, 2019 Governor Newsom of California signed into law AB 1540, legislation that establishes title protection for music therapy.

The American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) is thrilled to announce newly published qualification standards for General Schedule Recreation and Creative Arts Therapists from the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). As of June 9, 2019, all new music therapist hires for the Veteran’s Administration must be board certified as a MT-BC approved by the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT).
