The AMTA Annual Conference celebrates the best in music therapy anywhere. This year, with the theme Voices of the Sea: Music Therapy @ Florida, we'll highlight the incredibly vibrant music therapy scene in Florida.
AMTA's 2013 conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency located on the river in the heart of Jacksonville, Florida. Nearby are miles of beaches, natural splendors and a healthy cultural community.

AMTA Conference attendees have been offered a discount on airport shuttle services through Destination Planning. There are many transportation services and you are free to use whichever you prefer. You are responsible for making your own travel arrangements and associated costs. For your convenience, Destination Planning information can be found below.

Advance Reservation Discount- Discounts are available for advance reservations ONLY. The advance reservation discount is for those passengers making reservations online 48 hours or more before their scheduled flight. Guests will be charged $22 each way, per person if making reservations over the phone or less than 48 hours before scheduled flight.
Round-trip Service- Remember to make your "Return Trip" reservation after your arrival reservation to save time! After you place your credit card information into the system, you will click "submit" and then enter your return trip information to the airport for your departure.
Confirmations will be emailed to you at least 24 hours before your scheduled arrival. For questions during regular business hours (EST M-F 9am-5pm) or if you cannot locate your driver after hours, please call our Transportation Manager, Sarah Urban, at 904-699-3540.

Institute/Training/CMTE Policy: CMTE courses are offered at a low-cost rate in conjunction with the conference. To enroll in a CMTE course, you must registered for the conference on at least the day of the conference which the CMTE is scheduled. Institute and Pre-conference Trainings do not require conference registration, but you must register off-line in order to not be charged for conference registration. Fax, mail or phone in your registration to the AMTA office.
Cancellation/Refund Policy: Activities are planned in advance based on the number of registrants. Full refunds cannot be made. Refunds for cancellations of any conference activities (including Trainings, Institutes and CMTE courses) are available by written request only and must be mailed to the AMTA national office. 80% of fees will be refunded if the request is postmarked no later than 10/11/13, 50% if the request is postmarked 10/12/13-11/10/13. NO REFUNDS will be made after 11/10/13, so please plan ahead. Refunds are processed 45 days after the conclusion of the conference. Usually, this will occur in Nov./Dec./Jan. You are responsible for providing a valid postal address where you will be able to pick up mail at that time so you can receive your check. Banks do not accept checks more than 90 days after their issue date, so please present this check to your bank for payment as soon as possible in order to insure you are able to access the funds. Checks uncashed after 120 days will be voided.
Photo Release: During the course of the conference, you may be photographed as a result of your participation in conference activities. These photographs may be used by AMTA in the course of promoting future conferences or other association activities. You will not be compensated for the use of your photograph. If you do not want your photo used, please contact conference organizers.
Earn Graduate Credit Through AMTA Conference Participation!
Music therapists may earn one or two graduate credits by attending sessions at the AMTA annual conference by participating in the Crane School of Music/AMTA Professional Development Experience (PDE). This experience is appropriate for serving many curricular and professional purposes and can be used by music therapists and others:
- seeking course work to meet board certification and re-certification criteria in accordance with the policies of the Certification Board for Music Therapists, Inc.,
- seeking career advancement on local salary schedules,
- for in-service learning credit, and
- for lifelong learning.
Tuition is currently $370 per credit hour and ten (10) contact hours of attendance at AMTA conference sessions and professional meetings as appropriate are required per credit hour. There is a limit of two credits.

Adventures in Pianoland with Robin Spielberg
The Opening Session Begins Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 7:00 pm
Robin Spielberg has been an active artist advocate for AMTA since 2001, serving in the position of "Celebrity Artist Spokesperson." Over the years, she has met with dozens of music therapists in nursing care facilities, community centers, hospitals, universities and performing arts centers to help educate both professional medical personnel and the general public about the benefits of music therapy. Robin will perform a delightful program of enchanting pieces for solo piano from her vast repertoire of popular American melodies and original favorites. Known for her expressive style and tales from the bench, she will treat the conference audience to select excerpts from her brand new memoir, "Naked on the Bench: My Adventures in Pianoland" during this performance. Robin will also be presenting a special "For Students Only" Session entitled: "Musical Intention: Conveying Emotion through Song."

Internship Directors who are registered for the conference are invited to take part! Participants will be given poster board space for presentations about their internship sites and may share public relations materials. Whether you’re a student looking for an internship site or a Internship Director looking to find prospective interns, this session is for you! Space is limited.
