A New Home for Music Therapy: Welcome to the AMTA Website

Oct 27, 2026 | AMTA News

What Does the AMTA Launch Mean for You?

Our new website is here, and you helped shape it! For years, members told us what they needed: easier navigation, better search, and resources that live in one place instead of scattered across dozens of pages. We took that feedback to heart, and the result is a fresh, modern home for the music therapy community. We are deeply grateful to The Music Man Foundation for the financial support that helped make this new website possible.

If you’re new to our work, here’s the short version. The American Music Therapy Association is a nonprofit organization that represents music therapists and the people they serve. Music therapists are trained, credentialed professionals who use music to support health, healing, and quality of life for people of all ages and abilities. Our mission is simple, but big: grow the field, raise awareness of what music therapy can do, and make sure more people have access to it. This new site is one of the clearest signs yet of how far we’ve come and where we’re headed.

What Can You Find on the New Site?

Before you dive in, here’s a quick look at what’s waiting for you.

Where do I start if I’m curious about music therapy?

Start with our foundational pages that answer the big questions in plain language. You’ll learn what music therapy is, who music therapists are, and how this work makes a real difference. Learn more about music therapy.

What’s in it for members, students, and future members?

Quite a lot. Members gain easier access to journals, practice tools, and a smoother renewal process. Students can explore career guidance, education programs, and internship information. Prospective members can see exactly what membership offers before joining. Explore membership benefits.

Here’s what makes the new experience stand out:

  • Simpler navigation so you spend less time hunting and more time doing.
  • Search that actually works, connecting you to the right resource fast.
  • Centralized resources that bring scattered information together.
  • A mobile-friendly design that meets you wherever you are.

This Is Only the Beginning

This launch is a reflection of who we are as an organization – always learning, always listening, and always doing our best to show up for our members. We’ve been through a lot together, and every conversation, every piece of feedback, and every challenge shaped what you see today. And we’re just getting started.

Phase 2 is already in the works, including podcasts that will bring music therapy stories and expertise straight to you in fresh, accessible ways. Updates will be shared by email as those pieces come to life.

We also invite partners and corporate supporters to join this next chapter. Every gift helps expand research, education, and access to music therapy for the communities that need it most. If your organization wants to make a lasting impact, now is a great time to invest in the future of this profession.
