Select Your Professoonal Membership Tier

AMTA’s equity-based dues model lets you choose the rate that best reflects your financial situation.

Tier One — $150
Basic needs are difficult to meet; minimal expendable income.

Tier Two — $200
Basic needs are met; some expendable income.

Tier Three — $250
Basic needs are comfortably met; ample expendable income.

Consider Tier One or Two

You may consider these tiers if you have financial responsibilities or circumstances that limit your available resources. This may include supporting dependents, managing significant debt, receiving public assistance, having little or no savings, or facing healthcare, disability-related, or immigration-related expenses.

These tiers may also be appropriate if you have limited access to financial resources or experience systemic or financial barriers that affect your ability to meet expenses comfortably.

Consider Tier Two or Three

You may consider these tiers if you have greater financial flexibility or access to additional resources. This may include having savings or investments, owning a home or other property, having few or no dependents, or having access to family resources.

These tiers may also be appropriate if you can travel recreationally, work part time by choice, have reliable access to healthcare, or benefit from greater earning power or financial support from an employer.

Factors to Consider

Consider your income, resources, expenses, responsibilities, and access to support when selecting the tier that best reflects your situation. Think about your overall financial circumstances and choose the level that feels appropriate and sustainable for you.

Membership Details & Payment Options

From membership timing to paying your dues, here’s what you need to know about managing your AMTA membership. Explore key membership dates, renewal details, and flexible installment options designed to make your membership easier to manage.

How Membership Works

AMTA membership follows the calendar year, running from January 1 through December 31. Membership dues are not prorated, so the cost is the same regardless of when you join during the year.

When you join or renew, your membership benefits begin immediately, including access to AMTA journals and discounts on AMTA-U, bookstore purchases, and AMTA Symposium registration.

A portion of your membership dues also goes directly to your regional chapter, supporting AMTA’s work at both the national and regional levels.

AMTA offers membership categories for every stage of your journey. Professional Membership uses an equity-based, three-tier model, allowing you to choose the rate that best fits your situation.

Ready to join or renew? Complete your membership online, or call the AMTA national office at 301-589-3300 for assistance.

Options for Paying Your Membership

Being a member is the best way to shape the future of our profession, and we want to make it as easy as possible to join. That’s why we offer a flexible installment plan for Professional Membership.

You can spread your dues across 12 installments for added convenience, or pay in full at the time of purchase. Best of all, there’s no additional processing fee for choosing the installment option.

Payment in Full

Those planning to pay in full may start the renewal/join process in November for membership the following year.

Installment Plan Rules

Before you get started, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • With the Installment Plan, dues are paid in 12 equal payments.
  • Payments are tied to the calendar year, not spread over a rolling 12 months. If you join or renew in July and choose the installment plan, your 12 payments will occur between July and December, the end of the member year.
  • You can start an installment plan in the AMTA Online Store anytime.
  • The full amount must be paid within the membership year (January 1 – December 31).
  • If your agreed-upon payments aren’t completed by the deadline, your membership and online access will be revoked.
  • Members who don’t complete their payments by the deadline will not be eligible to vote in AMTA’s end-of-year elections.
  • Failure to complete payments will result in the loss of payment plan privileges in the future.
  • Members planning to pay using the installment plan need to wait until January 1 of the new member year.

Important note: If you renew on November 1 and choose installments, all 12 installments will be paid before the current year ends on December 31.

How to Choose Installments Online

Setting up your installment plan takes just a few steps:

  • Log in to the AMTA Online Store with your email address and password.
  • Select Professional Membership and add it to your shopping cart.
  • Choose your rate from the drop-down menu next to “Dues Rate.”
  • Check the “Pay Installment Amount” box on the checkout page where you enter your credit card information.

That’s it. Once you’re set up, you’re ready to enjoy everything your membership has to offer.
