AMTA Regions & Student Organizations

AMTA is a national organization made up of 7 regional chapters. When you become an AMTA member, your regional membership is included automatically, and a portion of your dues supports the work of your regional chapter. The American Music Therapy Association Students (AMTAS) is the national student association that follows the same regional structure.

Each region operates fairly independently while staying closely connected to the national association.

The Assembly of Delegates serves as the member representative voice of all the regions. Each region holds a set number of delegate seats in the Assembly, and that number reflects the size of the region’s membership. The Assembly also holds four seats on the AMTA Board of Directors.

This structure helps make sure members across the country have a voice in the direction of the profession.

American Music Therapy Association Students (AMTAS)

The AMTA Student Organization includes all student and graduate student members of AMTA. Like the national association, it is organized into the same seven regions, giving students a voice and a community at both the regional and national levels.

AMTA IconGet Connected

Your regional chapter is a great way to build meaningful relationships, attend conferences and events, and stay actively engaged with the music therapy community close to home. Find your region, visit your chapter’s website, and connect with fellow members and regional leaders across your local community.
Regional involvement also provides opportunities to share ideas, expand your professional network, and stay connected to what’s happening in music therapy throughout your area.
