On February 22, 2022, Texas Governor, Greg Abbott issued a directive to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services to begin investigating gender affirming healthcare procedures as “child abuse.” AMTA adamantly opposes the Governor’s directive.

Mary began her graduate studies in music therapy with E. Thayer Gaston and William Sears at the University of Kansas in 1951 and continued encouraging music therapy clinicians right up to her recent passing in 2022; such a loss to the music therapy community.
