AMTA Board of Directors’ 2020 Mid-Year Meeting

The AMTA Board of Directors’ 2020 Mid-Year Meeting will be held on June 12-14, 2020 in a virtual format.

Meeting times are:

  • Friday, June 12, 2020, 9:00 pm-11:00 pm (Eastern Daylight Time)
  • Saturday, June 13, 11:00 am-5:00 pm (EDT)
  • Sunday, June 14, 12:00 pm-5:00 pm (EDT) – *if business is completed during other scheduled times, this meeting time may be shortened or cancelled.

AMTA Board of Directors’ meetings are open to AMTA members, with the exception of times when the Board is in Executive Session, per Robert’s Rules of Order.  Members interested in attending as a guest, please RSVP to Dianne Wawrzusin, Wawrzusin@musictherapy.org, on or before Monday, June 1, 2020.  In the subject line of the email, please write “Reservation Request: 2020 Mid-Year BoD Meeting.” In the body of the email, please include: the date you wish to attend and the email address where you wish to receive the meeting invitation. You will be sent an invitation link to participate in the Zoom Webinar for that date and time.  Due to platform restrictions, a limited number of participants can be accommodated.  Reservations will be taken on a first come, first served basis.

This is the first virtual Mid-Year Board of Directors Meeting and because this is a new format, the meeting will be streamlined.  Guests will be admitted as “attendees,” able to see and hear the meeting.  A separation of panelists (Board Members/national office staff/invited guests reporting to the Board) and attendees will help the meeting chair to view the screen with greater clarity, call on Board and staff members as participants, and identify voting members when necessary.  Guests will be able to type questions and comments through the Q&A feature and those questions will be addressed as time permits.  There are many unknowns, and your patience with the new format is appreciated.

The agenda is also streamlined due to the virtual nature of the meeting; no times and fewer reports will be listed.  Reports will be brief, with no report-outs.  Brief highlights are welcome and topics needing discussion and decision will be given the time required.  Because new leadership (CEO/ED) has not yet been hired, the Board will not engage in actions that require major change UNLESS the topic is critical to AMTA moving forward.  Breaks will be taken as needed.  The Board has been meeting a minimum of once, sometimes twice, per month, and because of increased meetings, some of the information typically shared at the Mid-Year Meeting has already been exchanged.  Questions or concerns may be sent in advance of the Board meeting to Contact Us on the AMTA website (use Concerning: Board of Directors), or directly to President Williams at: Deborah.benkovitz@gmail.com.

Thanks to everyone who has and continues to assist in the business of AMTA with your expertise, patience, and understanding.
