Copyright & Intellectual Property: An Overview for Music Therapists

An AMTA Self-Study E-Course

Understanding the essential components and basic principles of copyright law is an important part of music therapy practice. In the latest self-study AMTA E-course,  Copyright & Intellectual Property, Barbara Else, MPA, LCAT, MT-BC provides a detailed review of the historical background of copyright law, ethical considerations, the rights of the copyright holder, information about copyright piracy and copyright licenses, exemptions and fair use principles, digital rights and downloads, common copyright myths, terms and definitions related to copyright and intellectual property, and important details about copyright law and music therapy, including some scenarios encountered by music therapists in their daily practice. This e-course also gives music therapists the option of earning 3 CMTE credits by listening to the audio discussion on their own schedule while following the e-course workbook. When ready to earn the CMTE credits, the MT-BC simply submits the CMTE Evaluation to AMTA, CBMT Approved Provider #P-051.

To purchase, or to learn more about this new AMTA E-course and other self-study e-courses focusing on advocacy, ethics, reimbursement, and MT with early childhood, military populations, and dementia, see details here: http://www.musictherapy.org/careers/continuing_music_therapy_education/
