The American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) is thrilled to announce newly published qualification standards for General Schedule Recreation and Creative Arts Therapists from the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). As of June 9, 2019, all new music therapist hires for the Veteran’s Administration must be board certified as a MT-BC approved by the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT).

Measles, or Rubeola, is a highly contagious disease experiencing an upsurge of outbreaks in the US and abroad. Music therapists, and especially clinicians in private practice, should be informed about the disease and consult policies and procedures regarding infection control and prevention at facilities where they work or contract services. Clinicians in private clinics should review and consider their own policy as well as advisories and emergency directives from public health officials.
