Dr. Laura Beer Appointed as Incoming Editor-in-Chief of Music Therapy Perspectives
The American Music Therapy Association is excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Laura Beer as the incoming Editor-in-Chief of Music Therapy Perspectives (MTP). She will assume her duties as Editor-in-Chief when the next term begins on January 1, 2019. Dr. Beer brings considerable experience to the position, having served the journal as a member of the Editorial Board and as Associate Editor, and as a guest editor on several other journals.
Dr. Beer is Associate Professor, at Marylhurst University where she directs the music therapy program and is Chair of the Counseling and Creative Therapies department. In commenting on her appointment, Laura noted her respect and admiration of the collaborative spirit of MTP’s current Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Tony Meadows. Dr. Beer pledges to continue this collaborative spirit as she assumes her official duties working with the readership, the editorial team and board, as well as with our publishing partner, Oxford University Press and our sister journal, the Journal of Music Therapy. Laura expressed her keen desire for MTP to continue to serve as the “premier source of information for music therapy clinicians.”
Please join AMTA in congratulating Laura on her appointment. Music therapists and students attending the 2017 Annual Conference in St. Louis are invited to meet and greet Dr. Beer during the conference in the Exhibit Hall at the Oxford University Press booth and in the AMTA Village at the Grand Opening Spectacular. We encourage you to follow the journal online, sign up for electronic Table of Content alerts via email, and use the social media hashtags #mtresearch and #AMTA_MTP.
