Journal of Music Therapy Appoints Associate Editors

Drs. Stine Lindahl Jacobsen and Olivia S. Yinger Appointed as Associate Editors for the Journal of Music Therapy

SILVER SPRING, MD. September 12, 2018. The American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) is pleased to announce two appointments to the position of Associate Editor with the Journal of Music Therapy (JMT). Drs. Stine Lindahl Jacobsen and Olivia Yinger join the editorial team of JMT to support the peer review process. 

JacobsenStine Lindahl Jacobsen

Stine Lindahl Jacobsen, PhD is Associate Professor at Aalborg University in Denmark where she directs the Music Therapy Programme and Knowledge (research) Group. Dr. Jacobsen is active in numerous professional groups, including service on the Editorial Board of JMT. She is also co-founder of the International Music Therapy Assessment Consortium (IMTAC). Stine’s work focuses on family assessment in the context of music therapy practice. She developed the Assessment of Parent-Child Interaction (APCI) and provides training in assessment procedures. In 2013 Stine was honored as recipient of Aalborg’s PhD Cup award recognizing outstanding research and scholarship. Dr. Jacobsen’s impressive and growing publication portfolio includes over 64 publications to her credit. To date, she has published in 16 journals including JMT. Additionally, Dr. Jacobsen served as Editor on several books.

YingerOlivia Yinger

Olivia Yinger, PhD, MT-BC is Associate Professor at the University of Kentucky where she directs the music therapy program. Prior to joining the faculty at Kentucky in 2012, Dr. Yinger taught at the Florida State University as a doctoral candidate and coordinated the Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare/Florida State University Music Therapy and Arts in Medicine Program, as well as the National Institute for Infant and Child Medical Music Therapy. Olivia has a continuous history of service to both AMTA and the Certification Board for Music Therapists in varied roles and is a member of the JMT editorial board. In 2013, she co-founded the mUsiKcare program at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Yinger’s primary research interests are procedural support music therapy, neonatal and pediatric music therapy, music in gerontology, and music therapy for individuals with neurological disorders, including Parkinson’s disease. Olivia has a large and expanding portfolio of publications with peer-reviewed published articles. Among her many honors, Dr. Yinger has received the Southeast Region’s research (2015) and professional practice awards (2013). In 2004 she was awarded Humanitarian of the Year from Florida State University’s School of Music.
