Team Rainbow Hosted Video Conference Invitation
June 21, 2016 12:52 PM
Team Rainbow is a collective of 10 music therapists formed 7 years ago. We are clinicians and educators with a variety of backgrounds from across the USA. We are all members of the LGBTQAI and Ally community. Our focus is four fold: to educate the music therapy community about LGBTQAI concerns, research the intersections of LGBTQAI identity and music therapy, advocate for LGBTQAI clients, music therapists, and students, and support LGBTQAI and ally music therapists and students.
The members of Team Rainbow are all deeply affected by the hate crime perpetrated against Latinx LGBTQAI community in Orlando. In this time of mourning, shock, and anger, we are reaching out to our LGBTQ and Ally music therapy community to come together in reflection upon this devastating mass murder. On Thursday the 23rd of June at 9:00 pm Eastern time, we will host a video conference that will be open to any music therapist or music therapy student who identifies as LGBTQAI or as an Ally. We are coming together as a community virtually to give voice to our thoughts, to listen to our LGBTQAI and Ally music therapy community, and share our support for each other. All who identify as LGBTQAI and allies are welcome. You can speak or just listen.
We will be using a business form of Skype that can host up to 200 people. So you should be prepared to download a plug-in or app to join the meeting. You can use a smart phone, tablet, or computer. If you want to be seen, you need a camera on your device. If you don't want to be seen but have a camera, you can opt to have your camera off. If you wish to speak, you must have a microphone. We recommend earphones with a Mic as it will stop any echo. As with all conference calls, we ask everyone mute their mic when they are listening as this cuts down on extraneous sounds.
