Be sure to watch "World News Tonight with David Muir" on ABC for a story featuring former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her music therapy team. AMTA coordinated this segment with producers who interviewed many music therapists from around the country. Check your local listings and, as always, scheduling is subject to change.

Music therapist Dr. Joke Bradt, presented the opening plenary speech for the “Third National Summit: Advancing Research in the Arts for Health and Well-being across the Military Continuum” held on February 27, 2015, featuring her NIH-sponsored research on chronic pain and vocal music therapy.

After earning the rank of Captain in the US Navy & serving for 25 years, Becky Jo Watson retired & earned her MT-BC status. She recently sat down in front of the AMTA-Pro microphone to share her experiences & insights in an effort to help her music therapy colleagues understand military culture & better serve active duty military members & veterans. Congresswoman Gabby Giffords returned to Houston's TIRR Memorial Herman and was reunited with Board Certified Music Therapist, Maegan Morrow, with a song from "Annie." Her husband, Mark Kelly captured the moment on his phone and it was reported in the "New York Daily News."

Created and approved by AMTA & CBMT, this document considers the contributions, interrelationships, and interdependencies of the CBMT Scope of Practice (2010) & Code of Professional Practice, as well as the AMTA Standards of Clinical Practice, Professional Competencies, & Code of Ethics.

The Wilson Trust Music Therapy Project, a project of the American Music Therapy Association, is pleased to announce the awarding of a $40,000 grant to the Snohomish County Music Project to increase music therapy services for vulnerable populations.
